What is Reiki?
Reiki is a natural, simple, effective, powerful method of care that acts on your whole being.
How does it works ? I channel Reiki within myself, I capture the vital energy and communicate it through my hands.
This hand positioning technique aims to bring together universal energy and the receiver’s life force. The result of this energetic and holistic method is intense well-being and relaxation, even a possible cure.
What happens during a Reiki session?
I ask you to relax on my massage table. I place my hands where your body requires special energy attention in order to rebalance it. I do not massage or manipulate your body. My hands will land where you need them. Generally, the person feels the warmth of my hands, others feel small tingles in their body or an “energetic” current through them. Everyone has their own perceptions and feelings.
Who can practice Reiki?
The faculty of practicing Reiki is transmitted by a 3rd degree initiate or Reiki Master. Reiki is a transmission and not a gift, with several degrees, generally four, corresponding to very precise stages of practice. For example, Reiki first degree is the discovery of energy for oneself, one’s close entourage, plants, seeds, animals, stones …
How about you ? How long have you been practicing in St Barths? What led you to practice, teach, and keep doing it?
I discovered Reiki in 2010. I come from a family where my paternal and maternal grandparents were magnetizers, fire-cutters and could heal other minor diseases. My father was a medium and bequeathed me his pendulum. This approach to energy has been in me since I was a child. It was very natural to feel energy in my hands and I didn’t really know what to do with it. After discussing with Anne of the Venus Institute who was already initiated into Reiki, everything then went naturally. I passed the four Reiki degrees, created the association St Barth Reiki Harmony. We gathered in small groups every month at my place to share evenings around Reiki, to exchange books, discussions. It’s been 10 years now since I started Reiki; I have studied each step, I “reikize” everything !!! I now feel qualified to practice Reiki professionally and train with total honesty and simplicity. My goal may seem utopian to some, but I like to think that those who are in this sphere of well-being are there to bring more light, as Martin Luther King put it so well: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.”
What is the link with other alternative medicines?
Reiki reinforces all therapies, it does not replace medicine and is not a religious dogma. Reiki does not replace medical treatment, it complements for more comfort, to release physical, muscular, emotional, mental and spiritual tensions. Reiki is a source of serenity and meaning.
